Well done to the under 13 Chippenham team for winning the Bath League Cup by 6 wickets.
The game was played between Chippenham and Corsham at Keynsham CC. After looking at the wicket and winning the toss Chippenham elected to bowl. This was a great decision with Chippenham opening bowler Michael Hunter bowled a very good opening spell of 4 overs picking up 3 wickets for 5 runs. This was ably backed up by Casey Bean bowling 3 overs for 12 picking up 2 wickets. Corsham were on the back foot after 8 overs finding themselves on 20 for 6. Chay Forester and Tom Foley from Corsham managed to put on a 23 run partnership, before Foley was bowled by Kyle George who ended with 2 wickets for 16 off 4 overs. Corsham closed their innings on 64 for 8 off 20 overs.
James Gillespie and Dan Proctor opened the batting, it was not long before Proctor was out spooning the ball up to mid on, Chippenham lost another wicket next ball, bringing Kyle George to the wicket. George and Gillespie went about rebuilding the innings putting on a 45 run partnership before Gillespie was out for 28. Another quick wicket fell, bringing Harry Collins to the wicket. George (19no) and Collins (9no) knocked off the winning runs ending the Chippenham innings on 65 for 4 off 14.1 overs. A fantastic all round performance from all the boys that played in the final.

Chippenham Airdome officially opened on Saturday 14th November 2009. The dome was planned by the late Tim Waycott who sadly died last year. Jo and Tom, Tim's wife and son officially opened the dome which will provide excellent sporting facilities that will be used by a variety of sporting organisations including youth cricket. The Tim Waycott Trust Fund for Youth Sport will be funding opportunities for young sports players to train in the dome. The Dome will be an excellent addition to the sports club. |
